need Help

I need help with tip ups, how to set them up and how they work? I brand new to ice fishing and dont have a clue about tip ups.

Put at least 2 feet of mono to the end of your tip-up line. If you want to catch a walleye anyway. Use a triple surgeon knot. -NS-

thank you, how do you make the flag pop up, Im trying to figure that part out?

Dan what type of tip-up do you have? If you have the kind with the cross bar on top you just hook the flag arm under the cross bar. The bar has a smooth side and a notched side if you are using heavy baits say for northern use the notched side, if you are using a fathead or similar bait for walleyes you can use the smooth side. I hope this helps you.

Do you have the old style of Tipup that has three wooden pieces with a spool at the bottom and metal linkage up the long wood piece? Or do you have one of the new high tech ones?

Take a good look at your tip-up and then do your best to describe it. There are lots of different tip-ups and it is tough to help with knowing what kind you have. Scott Steil
