South Dakota to go cattin?

How's this for some quotes from an area guide:

"I've never had a catfish client last all day....their arms get tired"

"I've had days when I lost count over 100"

"If we don't have 20 fish in 20 minutes I move"

"we are catching all these fish on nightcrawlers, I would love to see what some experienced catfisherman could catch here.

and from the SD Game and Fish Dept

"The catfish are vastly underutilized. There are huge huge numbers of catfish out there"

I really like the sound of that, I think it would be fun to get a group of guys together and have a "blitz" weekend or something like that, you know, just head over and fish it hard for a few days and see what transpires.

I'm trying to talk my sister into taking the family 110 miles south of Barcelona to get on the Ebro when we visit in a couple weeks. But I doubt it'll happen. I also need her because she speaks Spanish (I've forgetten whatever I learned in HS)

I just want to fish for whatever while I'm there. I don't know if there is much of a winter fishery but I'll find out. The Spanish regulations are very similar to Minnesota's regs...16 years old, certain seasons and special regs, fee structures, etc.

I hope to catch something, anything. I've been busy researching and sending emails half way around the world.

Anybody know much about Wels in the winter?

I'd be up for it!! It'd be nice to get into some nice cats. Both numbers and size.

Suriname for Red Tail Catfish. I saw Larry Dahlberg reel in one as big as his boat on Sunday while flipping channels a little before kickoff for the Super Bowl. Dang near pulled him out of the boat he had the drag set so tight to keep the fish out of the rocks! And it only took him 5 minutes! It was 396 pounds and dislocated the shoulder of one of the helpers holding the fish for a photo when it shook its head.

They're also called the Amazon catfish...
