Need advice on an outdoor tv antenna for the Ice House.

I don't have one, but I would probably start at an RV store. You could get the crank-up style for around $150.

The Winegard crank up model works great. Make sure whatever you get, it is HD compatible or it won't work in 15 months. Good luck.

Just so anyone doesn't get suckered into paying more than they should because an antenna is marked as "HD READY", all you need is a standard UHF antenna to receive high definition signals.....just like that old one that's been in a lot of attics or on rooftops for years. There is nothing special required (other than being rated for UHF) to get HD signals.

just curios: how many channels can you get with a standard antenna on upper red lake? wondering if i should spend the money on tv and antenna. jeez it's cold out

i just went to big lots and bought a powered antenna ( the kind with the 2 antennas and the circle thing in the middle, it boosts signal and only cost me $10 i cut off the plug in before the wall plug and wired the one with the white stripe to the + on my battery.....works greaT. just make sure you open the powered antenna you are looking at and look at the power input it should say 12v.

I have a Wineguard antenna with power booster on my house. This is the batwing antenna commonly seen on RV's. On Upper Red, the only channel I can pick up is PBS. Generally, I can pick up two or three networks everywhere else I fish.

I have one of those small Winegard Pop up Antennas paid $48.

For the money and not having to drill any holes in your roof, it works great!

Around the metro area you get both UHF/VHF, and all the channels come in as clear as cable TV.

Red lake it gets 2-3 channels depending on the day, but I do not have a power booster which would only help it get better reception up in those areas.
