Snowmobile or 4 wheeler?

311Hemi

Question

Looking for a new machine...and can't for the life of me decide what to get. Snowmobile or 4-wheeler. They both have their advantages/disadvantages.

-Both will work for ice fishing in most scenarios. The sled burns hifax or can overheat when there is little snow or no snow on the ice...making it hard to get around with the portable. Seems like a lot of the time the ice in MN is this way. The 4-wheeler can go out in all these circumstances, but I would assume would struggle in deeper snow conditions that we can sometime get.

-Two good friends have sleds, but we don't get out riding a ton together....mainly just on ice fishing trips. I do get to get out with my father in law on more trips....but he has 5 sleds that he would let me ride if I were to go riding with him.

-4-wheeler can plow the driveway...although my driveway is not that long it beat shoveling.

-4-wheeler can pull my parents dock and boatlift out of the lake and help put it in, which we have done with a pulley system up until this year when a neighbor brought his wheeler over to help us. MUCH easier.

-4-wheeler can be used for hunting....although I only get out for deer one time a year, I get out for grouse many more times. I would be brining a dog along for grouse so I am not sure how that would work with a wheeler.

-I love going sledding and love to ride hard (200 miles in a day sometimes)...and this is the first time in 7 years I have not had one at this time of the year. Getting to places to ride in a different story.....takes lots of gas to get to good areas to ride. But the fun factor lies more with the sled.

I want to buy a decent machine...so I don't have money for both.

Thoughts?

I would much rather spend the day on a snowmobile than a fourwheeler but in all practicallity you are going to use the four wheeler alot more than the sled. You even said it yourself plus the father -in-law always has a sled if you need one! wink.gif I vote for the wheeler.
