tearin' lips
You wouldn't believe it if I could explain it. My buddy goes through there about once a week and he said numbers have been building through the last few weeks. He said if was rediculous on Saturday. I can't wait to hunt over there in a couple weeks!!
poutpro
Its a good idea to post where geese are at on the internet. Lets see how many people we can get to come to Fergus to shoot geese.
tearin' lips
Hey, Poutpro. No use to get bent out of shape dude! Just because its posted doesn't mean that everyone will be coming over your way. Besides people still have to find places to hunt, which is a hard thing to do. They still call it hunting and not shooting. Chill!!
Ufatz
There truly are an astonishing number of geese in and around Fergus Falls. Most of them are downtown. The rest of them are on the Orwell Res. About 17 of them are out wandering about where you MIGHT get a shot at them. Just keep in mind that you are the 6000th guy to shoot at that 17 in the past month. Whooop de doo.....go for it killer.
carpshooterdeluxe
yeah im not trying to "internet scout"....just curious if theres a weekly count like they do at lac qui parle refuge or bigstone refuge, places like that. those numbers are posted on websites weekly as the season warrants, but never heard of any official tally for fergus. ironman
I thought that the whole area around Fergus was a state goose refuge. What exactly does that mean. I was hunting south of orwell res in a wma and passed on an easy two-fer because I wasn't sure. Can you or cant you shoot geese within that zone? tacklebox7FF
you can hunt geese in that zone if you have permission or there is public waters within that zone.. just make sure to read the regulations on season dates and where your hunting... carpshooterdeluxe
well we had plenty of action on saturday. hunted right ouside town on a nice sandbar setup. 23 birds yesterday, but it seems as if alot of them either decided to hide on the river and not fly or bugged out, because we didnt even see a goose this morning. it was pretty funny to see guys snowplowing fields out to expose stubble and entice birds to the hill tops. Ufatz
Did you by any chance see the guys who dumped three or four garbage bags full of goose carcasses in a ditch near Fergus Falls? Breasted 'em out and then tossed the bags out on the roadwauy I guess. Do you guys still wonder why so many Americans are becoming fed up with "sportsmen" and "hunters". C'mon guys. Clean it up. Think. Only thing worse was the poor crippled up coyote people saw trying to get across a frozen lake after some heros apparently blasted it with their AR's while riding snowmobiles. Keep it up boys and there will be NO hunting faster than you think! Before you go flame crazy, remember-I'm on the side of decent, ethical sportsmen. Oh...and I am not after the guys posting here. just seemed appropriate place to post it. No question there is lots of goose hunting around FFM! Thank you and good night. carpshooterdeluxe
it sucks when stuff like that happens. all our geese were so frozen that we couldnt clean them till we got home and thawed them out a little infront of the sunflower heater. i guess geese tend to freeze when its 15 below! as far as the yote goes; im sure that the guys on the sleds will get whats coming to them; the dnr really went after guys doing that last winter in western minnesota.
