To my knowledge it's never been done before by anyone other than the DNR, I sure hope next year we can do it in another area Lake :cool I hope to see you there, bring a camera and the family, things are looking up in Southern MN.

Nobody got eaten LOL, they arrived in great shape thanks to Mr. Steve Puchtel of McKenzie Fish Co. his care and generosity was greatly appreciated, as was that of the MN DNR officials at Waterville, New Ulm and St.Paul that expedited our permit, 128 fish from 10-17/18 inches went in all swam away happy, it was great to see all the people that showed up heres a few pics

This stocking of french is great. Im glad people care enough to do things like this. I am just wondering if the DNR was going to stock the lake in addition to this or if they were not planing to stock french this year. Maybe now they have an excuse to skip there stocking plan here. Anyways I wish I would have known about this a few days earlier so I could have stopped by to check it out. Pretty cool!! Also I often think about how cool it would be to stock Tiger Muskies in other area lakes. Or even lakes further west like around the Montgomery area. Who says that the Tigers have to dwell mainly in the Metro. Lakes further south get fished pretty hard as well and Tigers would probably thrive. Some walleye dudes would probably protest but from what I have seen not many of these southern lakes are much to brag about anyways. Yeah theres some nice eating sized walleye but they can be few and far between. Let them coexist. Tigers seem to do well in the south or at least as far south as Ive seen them.

Hey lucy, the DNR has stocked about 7-800( I don't have the exact# in front of me) this year in addition to the 130 we put in on Friday, they are trying to make up deficits from previous years, hence the over 602.

They approached us with some talk of stocking every other year, I don't think that will work with the rate of harvest on the lake, maybe regulations and angler education will make it possible in the future.

We didn't get the stocking Permit till 3:30 pm Wed Afternoon it was a last minute deal, I wish we could have had some time to get it to the public.

New lakes are in the long range plan and letters have been submitted, the DNR is revamping it's requirements and implementing a Long Range Program, meetings are starting very soon regarding the LRP and stocking criteria.

Walleye numbers and size continue to go up on French all species are doing very well with the exception of Bullheads, all studies on the subject show the presence of Muskie have a positive effect on the numbers of adult Walleye, so Walleye guys should be happy if they have a favorite lake being considered, I have allot of info on this if anyone doesn't have a life and likes to read that sorta thing LOL.

I know they will be reevaluating the Tiger Program also, I don't think expansion is in the future, new lakes will likely be Leech strain.

Thanks

John

Stop by a Meeting and say Hi we'd love to meet you

I don't have a life and like to read. grin.gif

Seriously, if that info is something you can easily transmit to me, I'd love to read it. The walleye vs muskie controversy is an ongoing argument and any research pertaining to that topic I'd find worth my time.
