PerchJrkr
I have been thinking about starting a spring and fall food plot and i was just wondering what you guys have had good luck with? i was looking at some of the seed from the whitetail institute, maybe a chikory or clover? Are any of them good for spring and fall? maybe if you mow em off around august sometime? thanks for the input in advance guys!!
DeanoB
Antler King products are great too, try the trophy clover mix, which can last like 5 or 6 years on 1 planting. another one i have used is fall/winter/spring mix, can be planted whenever, and will start growing within 2 weeks! make sure you have a good PH (5.5 - 7 for most plants) or you will just be wasting your fertilizer, seed, and time. it is a commitment, but worth the results. have fun
vister
what ever you buy, make sure you take a look at the seed content sticker, usually on the back or bottom of the bag. pay a special amount of time checking this out and finding out what percentage of the bag contains inert matter. sure a 50 lb bag may look cheap, but if it has a high percentage of inert material, you're just buying a 50 lb bag full of dump. just cause some seeds seem expensive compared to the bag next to them, doesn't mean its a rip off, it probably has a higher concentration of actually seed.
