Marcum Lx-3 transducer problem

Mudcutter

Question

Last year my transducer on the LX-3 stopped working or at least doesn't work as well as it did. Normally, when you pick up the ducer' to your ear with it on a strong "tick, tick, tick" emits from it--- now my still emits the tick-- but not nearly as strong. It's too weak to find the bottom and much too weak for marking fish.I have checked and rechecked all connections and can't find anything wrong. Battery fully charged etc. Had two FL-8 for years and never anything wrong with them--- I don't like Marcum plastic connections on the back-- anyways , may my ducer be shot or is something else the matter??? It has seen some rough use over the last 4-5 years.

Mud,

As you stated,"your transducer has had some rough duty the past 4 or 5 years". There are not any transducers out there that will stand up to really rough duty for many years. I have both Marcum and Vexilar flashers and have to say that both units have preformed very reliably over the years.

Transducer problems are not rare with either unit though. I have had to replace transducers on both makes.

I have not had any problems with the plastic connections on my Marcums, ever.
