Lunker
Now that it is basically late season(for our zone anyways, we're done in two weeks), what are the reports? Here in central WI it has been really slow for at least two weeks. Seeing a lot less birds than earlier in the season, though some bigger flocks are moving through. Haven't been out since last week, when we saw a half dozen flocks of bluebills and some super high cans each day, but that was pretty much it besides a few mallards here and there and some mixed ducks. Shot a few mallards and goldeneye and that was it. My buddies went out friday, got skunked, and again yesterday with only shots at one flock(two mallards killed). For us at least it has slowed way down. Kinda dampens the spirits, even though we have a few weeks left. How's everyone else doing?
Eric Wettschreck
Ducks in SW Mn are feast or famine. When you see them it's in the hundreds........when you see them.Geese, however, are everywhere. If the weather holds true we could have a very interesting December goose season. Ufatz
Drove from Fergus Falls to Wheaton to Browns Valley to Morris to Hoffman today. Most potholes and even larger bodies of water frozen. Some Mallards here and there in the fields, but not many. Abundant geese. Few coots. That is all. This may be my last season. I've had it.
