Chopper77
How bad does a fish have to be gill hooked to kill it? We all try not do it but it does happen so how do you decide to keep the fish or to release it and hope it will live?
Johnny_Da_Der
If it's gill hooked and bleeding I'll keep it everytime. if it's anywhere close to eater size and i question whether it's gonna survive, i'll keep it. The exception being when it would be illegal to keep (for example: a gill hooked walleye on pool 2 or a 20" walleye on mille lacs)
Team Otter
That's a tough one to answer without seeing the fish. A person needs to use their best discretion on something like this. If you're in doubt, when applicable, keep the fish.
b1gf1sh1
a bleeding fish is a dead fish. fish lack the ability of blood clotting so they just continue to bleed. i'm not a scientist but it's what i've read a few times over the years. never read anything to the contrary.they were not specific on small amounts or large amounts so if anyone knows for sure let us know.
