Scott M
Anybody ever try herring roe? I know the roe season is just around the corner up in Grand Marais. It's been described to me as little crunchy spheres that taste like butter. Good taste and texture I guess. Spread it on a cracker and you're good to go. I guess they get really good prices shipping overseas to Scandanavia.Cheffrey, you ever think of doing a little cracker appetizer spread with some fresh herring eggs from up the shore? Or is it too spendy or difficult to maintain?
Tom Linderholm
Scott, I've done it. Just really don't have the market to keep it fresh and do it right. Not a really fast mover on the shore. When I do pull caviar out on the shore it's typically for an event when I know it's sold before I buy it. I have heard as well that it is quite the mover overseas.Good stuff however. You can have it flavored (brined for flavor) or do it yourself to give it different uses.
