jim68
I have to share this story. My 6 yr old son and I went out yesterday afternoon for his first time out with me. I really don't know what I am doing either it was only my 3rd water hunt. We got set up and pulled into some reeds. I couldn't see one end of my dekes but figured we were OK. Not much action he asked me can we shoot the coots or the blackbirds or the sea gulls and everything else that came by. We had a group come by he blew his call and I followed with mine(Which wasn't much better) and they turned. Two of them came right over us droping but I thought they were gone. Then from the side I couldn't see they turned and landed in our dekes. He was so excited. We watched for a minute then they got up and I shoot them. He was very excitted. He had been bothering me to go home before this after he would have stayed all night.

hanson
Yep. Good job and thanks for sharing the story!I still remember as a kid how excited I was to "tag along" with dad and mom when they went duck hunting even though I was way too young to shoot. The cattails, the smell of the slough, "hiding" in the swamp, being quiet, and doing a "grown up" thing were all vivid memories of mine at the time. I still remember waiting and hoping for the day I could do it for real.
livintofish
Great story, its great you could share such a beautiful moment in the blind with your son. And what is more exciting about waterfouling then having a couple birds cup right into your decoys, it gets my heart goin every time. Good Huntin'
EYES101
That is very cool. There is nothing like spending time with your son especially in the outdoors away from the TV and video games. I remember hunting with my dad as a kid. I loved it, I didn't get to carry a gun but just all the other things I learned was fun. It created a bond between my dad and I that continues to this day. He probably told all his friends about it the next day at school and I'm sure he'll probably tell the story through his eyes for many years.
