Doufish2
I was out on a local lake a couple days ago. For giggles thought I would try something different. I am usually not a Carolina Rif fisherman.Using a 3/8 Carolina weight, 3 ft leader with several extra beads, attach a 3" Ribbit floating frog. The frog stays about 18" off the bottom. Quick, short jerking motion gives it alot of action, let it sit for 20 seconds and do it again. In 45 minutes I caught 15 fish, biggest was 21" and one gator that was 37". Had a blast. Anyone else ever try this?
friendlyfisher
Sounds like a blast. How deep of water were you in?
Doufish2
Was in anywhere from 8-18 FOW. Seemed to work best when I put the boat in 4-5 FOW and casted out to deep water, bring the frog up the grade. As soon as it got anywhere there may be a weedline, they would hammer it. st.crioxfishin
I never thought of using a frog with a carolina rig, but in the fall it makes perfect sense. Frogs are starting to migrate back into lakes to prepare for winter hibernation in the mud and it sounds like you may have imitated that seasonal migration perfectly. Nice!
