Guest
Stoped in to get bait at the Wayzata bait shop tonight and was informed, and reminded to make sure to post your name and address somewhere on the outside of your portable fish house. I guess some poor chap got fined 65.00 for not having it, even though he had a house license. Anyone have a run in with the DNR that would like to share a story or helpful tip ? Guest
Rather than put your name and address on the house, you may just choose to put your driver's license number on it instead. That is what I have done this year. Just put it on a piece of cardboard.Good Luck,Rusty
kslipsinker
I put mu driver's license number on my Clam with a paint pen. Works great. Be sure that your numbers are at least 2" tall.
Raven
I tried that cardboard trick with my name & lic. number and stuck it in the clear pocket on my portable. Wind worked it out and sent it flying. A warden stopped by and I had a time talking myself out of a ticket. This year I painted it on the canvas - if it flies now, I fly too
Guest
So, can you get a paint pen that has reflective paint ? Do you have to re-paint it every year ?
rmh2o
I think the COs are going to be more strict on the rules because they cant legaly enter permanant houses anymore and write out tickets so the next prey will probably be portables. red bricks
Take a piece of paper with your info on it and Vacum seal it or use a clear plastic bag and attach it to your house with pins. It works great.
Reefdawg75
Does it matter where your MN driver #/name and address is on the portable? I have the otter den and I posted 3 inch numbers on the back of the sled not the canvas. Because the numbers are not posted at eye level could this be a problem?Have others done this as an alternative to marking thier canvas? Thanks, Shea
kb1965
All info should be by the door so if a CO comes up to your house he can see it before checking you.
Crawlerman
What about the lil itty bitty "flip over" style that really don't have room on them to put that information on it? Least in the 2" letters...
Gonzo
The regulations for MN say:"All shelters, which include dark houses, fish houses, and portable shelters, placed on the ice of Minnesota waters must have thecomplete name and complete address or driver’s license number of the owner plainly and legibly displayed on the outside in letters and figures at least 2 inches in height."So I guess the outside is the outside, front, back or roof I also read where your "supposed" to put your tag, and I guess I've been doing it wrong on my portable all these years. Guest
I like the idea of the plastic baggie and pinning it to the house. Nice tip, thanks.
