To get rid of the rust, go to any auto parts store and buy a can of,"PB Blaster." It's a spray rust remover. Next you will need some Extra Fine steel wool. Spray a small amount of the PB Blaster on the steel wool. Be careful not to overdo it because you do not want it to come into contact with the wood stock. Gently wotk the steel wool over the rusted area. Wipe the area clean so you can check to see if you have gotten all the rust. If you haven't, work it with the steel wool again. Once you have the rust removed to your satisfaction, take a new steel wool pad and apply a few drops of any good gun oil. Gently work it into the area's where you have just removed the rust. Lastly wipe off any excess oil. Then you should be good to go. If you have to take heroic measure's to get the rust removed, you might want to consider re-bluing the gun. I hope this helps and good luck to you. grin.gif1DIRTBALL wink.gif

Don't reblue. If a gun is a collectors item, then a decision to reblue should be taken carefully and if done it should be by a specialist. Some valuable guns that are not collectibles are worth having a top quality blue job done. In most cases "affordable" reblue jobs are less than satisfactory. If you have a "working gun" that needs refinishing go for one of the new finishes or even parkerising.
