Hanson---I went fishing again

I got a chance to get out flathead fishing. The big channel cats were more aggressive than during prespawn and ate my baits for 2 nights before the flathead could find them. My wife enjoyed about a dozen channel cats with the majority being from 4-8 pounds.

Fri night I fished alone and the channel cats were completely absent. With the needed soak time I was able to get a flathead run. He wasn't very big but at least I was able to land a flathead.

I also watched several deer and had the camera handy for this curious guy.

Looks like we'll be flattie fishing again this weekend, might be my last opportunity before I get involved in other fall activities.

What other Fall activities?

After seeing the deer and turkey I wondered about the practical side of taking a shotgun catfishing

In the end it will be hunting in daylight and catfish in dark.

got a question. realistically, until about when do you guys keep fishing into the fall, if weather stays consistent with upper 60's to low 70's as average highs, and is it different for channels and flats?

It's all about water temps. Generally you will be able to catch fish until the water temp is 50 degrees. After that it gets really tough.

Correct about 50 or under, catfish tend to slow considerably, but walleyes start hitting pretty good around that time.

I stop fishing when I cast and it lands on ice, until I can walk on it safely. Then its a brand new game.

We had the worst fog I've seen yet this year on Friday night. Most guys in the Cat League had an hour + boat ride back to the ramp at idle speed in the fog. Yuck!!
