Gofishleech
Well it is actualy my son hunting the bait and he is in a ground blind. First night nothing, second night the "rough eared bear" came in (7:50pm) and held up behind a tree (30 yards) without my son seeing him. Son has a cold and coughed not knowing the bear was there, the bear reacted and turned and walked away, son had a shot but did not take a going away shot (good for him) We know all this as he has a video camera set up on a trypod and leaves the camera going, the camera got the bear coming in before he saw it. He would not of had much of a shot anyway but he could have kept from coughingand the bear may have come to the bait. It was a let down for him but an expirence. When we looked at the footage we could see it was the bear we want. Nothing came in tonight but we will be hunting this evry evening. Thanks for asking Boar! Hopefuly we will post pics of the "rough eared bear" with a smileing boy.
Boar
I'll be root'n for you guys, I hope your boy tags him, man that would be a thrill of a lifetime if the young man can tag him. All the best luck to ya guys. Maybe a little cough syrup before the hunt might help. My hardest need to surpress is to clear my throat, especially when it tickles an thats alway at prime time no less. Later boar
slick814
Cough syrup may help to keep from scaring "rough ears" again, or you could pick him up a cough suppressor. They really do work pretty well... believe me. I had a really bad hack for years due to some nasal problems, and the only thing I could do to keep from chasing away game was the cough suppressor. Feels odd when you cough into it the first few times, but it's defintely worth the $ & effort. (I think they're about $15 or so, so not terribly expensive, either... )
