As you all may know, i use a portable for spearing. water all around.Lets hear what everyone else is doing or going to do.
Yukon Don
Bass n Spear,Using a portable you must have to cut a lot of holes. What do you use? Have you ever tried that manual "ice saw"? If so how did it work for you? What kind of portable are you using? I've thought about using my portable but having to cut a new hole each time with a spud makes me think twice about doing it.Thanks in advance. bassNspear
I love the portable. And yes, i do use a ice saw. Its the best thing that was ever invited. The problem with it is that when you get 18inches of ice, sucks, but this is the best thing that was ever made. Here is the house that i use. Mankato. I place carpet in the floor, and have two spear holes cut. Only use one at a time.

Now you have them stored, goto your picture you want to share, 3.Click on the thumbnail and you should get a picture the fits to the page( if not you can use thumbnail or resize). 4. Right click on the image you want to post. 5. At the bottom select properties. 6. Highlight the web address in properties( NOT FROM ADDRESS BAR) and copy. 7. Write what you want for your post. 8. Wherever you want the picture click on the Image link( Instant UBB Code). 9. Paste the address you copied from the properties. 10. Submit Post That should do it. slipperybob
Question...After you get done spearing in a portable and pack up and go home...is there anything done so that people don't walk into it? As I've fallen into one during that one rainy day and fresh ice glazed all over hiding any evidence of a spear hole. Not everyone banks snow, soo... Pikeslayer
When Im going to move my perm. house I block it up and remove the snow I had banked up against it a couple of days before I move it,that way I know the hole is froze over and I also mark it with a stick with reflective tape on it. Scott K
I wish more people would do this, I came accross an atv that hit a speer hole at lake waconia, it was bad, 2 people no helmets. Chopper airlifter one off, the other left in the ambulance. I heard one was unable to ever walk again, and I believe the other was brain dead. This was 15 years ago maybe. I was on lake germany this last early winter, there was a bunch of people spearing, the ice was about 3-5 inches, open in the middle. I was walking out and where someone was speering the ice was only 1/2 inch thick, i kicked it open and found a branch that someone else used to mark there spot that was froze over, and marked this one. Just a strong suggestion to those who spear, please mark your holes!
Pikeslayer
I think its a law to mark your holes,if not it should be!!
bassNspear
when i pull the portable off the ice, i replace the ice chunk that i cut out, along with placing a stick upright so people will know there was a spear hole cut there.
