Augusta
I am looking at purchasing some new camo for spring turkey hunting in central mn and am wondering if anyone can give me some advice on what to go with? Color? Manufacturer? Thanks
DonBo
For spring time it's gotta have lots of green. I love my green Predator, but it's kinda hard to find. That being said, I spend a lot of time in a pop up blind. In that case, black is the color of choice.
Borch
Personally I like the realtree HD patterns. Something with green is good. Realty is most camo patterns will do the job nicely.Another thing to consider is on what season you hunt. The early seasons there is very little green in the woods most springs. By the later seasons there's a lot of green. Reality though as there is more foilage the camo is less important and there is lots of natural cover available. Main thing is to sit still.Good Luck! Hotspotter
I'm also a fan of the Predator line of camo for spring turkeys. As Borch mentioned, there is no substitute for sitting still, and time of season is of vital importance when selecting camo. The main purpose of it is to break up your outline, and avoid looking like a blob of any one color or shape that can be picked out. That's why I like any pattern with quite a few limbs and 3D-like effect such as the Predator. I wouldn't shy away from most camo patterns, save the ones that are darker/lighter against opposing backgrounds. Some of the older mossy oak patterns were a bit too dark for me, esp. when damp/wet, against a later spring background.
