Hey Bass n Spear,

If you want to you could pull your rig down the road just a few more miles and hit Portage lake, Borden, or even the big pond for some smallie action. If you want some details I would be glad to send you a pm?

Hey BassNSpear...

I fished a tourney up there in June. I can give you some ideas of what it's like. Send me an email for specifics.

In general though, the lake has steep drops off the shoreline and a lot of milfoil on most of those drops. When I was up there those mats were THICK and many went quite deep. There are a lot of fish on the lake, but like Dietz says, there aren't many big fish. I caught one four pounder prefishing by accident (couldn't shake her off) and didn't get anything over 2.5 the rest of my time up there. I think we weighed 8 pounds even and took 12th!

The worst part about Bay Lake...two words: Jet Skis. They are EVERYWHERE!! No lie, my partner and I were fishing in a no wake zone that you have to go through to get to the bottom of the lake. We pitched docks for about 30 minutes. I made the comment "I bet fifty jet skis have come past us since we got here". My partner said I was exagerating, so I turned and counted how many were in teh channel at that moment, and I swear on this, there was 27 either coming into, exiting, or idling through at that moment. My buddy turned to me and said, "Man, I think you may have actually underestimated." The worst part is that 90% of the people riding the jet skis that I saw were probably in the 14-18 year old range, so there was not a lot of common sense being displayed.

Of course, where there are jet skis there are also water skiers and tubers...

Have fun!
