panski master
We were going to the BWCA next weekend but canceled due to fire the fire ban. Can anyone give me a good campground to go to that is on a lake so we can bring the boat. We will be tenting it so it must have shower facilities. Other things in mind are good fishing, close to a nice town where we can go and have a few drinks one night. Anywhere within 2-3 hours fo central MN. Must be able to have camp fire so I think state parks are out of the question. Keith

DigitalFisherman
Just got back from five days at Mccarthy Beach State Park and I highly recomend it. It's between Side Lake and Stergeon lake about 15 miles north of Hibbing. We had a camp site on the lake and were able to beach the boat right at our camp site. Very nice beaches, shower house, chain of five lakes to fish, bar/rest. right down the road and no fire ban (they just ask that you not leave a fire unatended... very nice. IFallsRon
Scenic state park just north of Grand Rapids is a nice option as is Savana Portage near Big Sandy.
First Ice-Mike
We stayed at Woodland Resort North of Walker last weekend. Very nice tent spots and you're right on Leech Lake. We caught some nice perch right out from the campground. There is also numerous smaller lakes within a half hour drive. Cass lake is also close. The campsites are extremely reasonable. Walker is only about 4 miles away. I would highly recommend it.
