Red Cabin
My 89' trailboss runs good at all speeds but usually kills if left at idle for a couple seconds. Is there an idle speed adjustment on the carburator?
BobT
Are you certain that it's an idle speed issue? I don't know what adjustments are available on your system but assuming there is a carburator, perhaps it's just a dirty carburator. Could try running a carb cleaner in the fuel. If it's something that can be cleaned by the cleaner, it may clear up.Bob
Macgyver55
Yes there is an idle speed adjustment. There should be an idle mixture screw too. Usually a bit harder to see but before making any adjustments to either be sure the air cleaner is clean. The idle speed is the bigger screw that comes out of the side of the carb. Screwing it in will increase idle speed, but it takes very little movement. Turn it in just enough to stay running. Then adjust mixture by turning the idle air screw in till the engine starts to run rough. Keep count of the turns and turn the idle air screw out till it runs rough again. Now put the idle air screw back in half the amount of turns. After its running smoothly go back and set the idle speed where you want it. If this doesn't cure the problem you have other issues. Rather than address them now see what happens with adjustments first.
