Deer stand wood

Recommended Posts

Just a hint, nows the time to hit your local lumber yards and pick up their cull lumber. I picked up a pile of treated 2x4's and 2x6's for $65 and it had about 35 boards, none less than 10 foot and some of them 16 footers. The construction crews have been busy all summer and of course they don't want some of the twisted boards but the deer don't care. When you take that 14 foot 2x4 and start cutting it into two foot lengths for the ladder of your stand, you hardly notice the twist. I've also found treated 4x4's and treated decking material in the cull piles. They also have untreated wood in their piles but I generally shy away from them, I want my stands to last.
