Gas tank bags - worth it?

My brother n law has tank bags and loves them. His ride is a few years older and mine is new. I'm wondering if the bags make a mess of the paint....just curious, as I forgot to ask him about it. I see that some bags come with velcro attachments. Let me know what you think...thanks.

I use a tank bag and it works fine for what i use it for. I don't have mine velcro'd on so I can take it off after each trip. As far as the paint getting worn I haven't noticed any but my wheeler has more than a couple scratches on it. I use mine to hold a pop and maybe some seeds so I never really pack it too full.

Ive got one too, and it will dull the paint. But i wouldnt go without it. the velcro doesnt last very long but is not needed. I even put drinks and ice in mine and it last a long time, as it beats straping on a cooler
