Direct vent heater instalation

I Am putting an Empire Direct vent furnace in my fish house. The specs state that you need a minimum wall thickness of 4" and I only have 2". I need to build the wall out 2"?????? If so how have others done it????? Would it work to build the ouside out 2"???? or inside. I am sure others have had to do something??? what have u done????

I built mine 2" on the inside. The next time I will build a cabinet around it to box it in, to make it harder for others to get out

I installed mine into 2x2 wall construction, and added the vent extension on the outside. Works great!

is the vent extension adjustable or do you have to cut the pipes that come out the back of the heater?????

You do cut the pipes, the instructions will tell you the proper lengths to cut them. When I built my fish house, I put one of these extension kits in and believe me, it's well worth the money. The pilot light never goes out, I even pulled my house down the road at 55mph and the pilot light was still lite.

Is that kit just a box???? If so would it work just to add 2" of wood to the ouside of the house?????

The kit is just what you said, "a box". Yes, I believe your idea would work just as well.

I would spend the $40 and have it look nice, more professional.
