I got this motor from my Grandfather who has passed away. It has not been turned over for at least 15 years. I would like to get it to run but I have no experience in motors. I also do not want to put much money into it. being that it has not been used for this much time, is this going to cost a lot to get it running?

It depends on a lot of factors... one of which is the condition it was in last time it ran. I'd go through all seals/gaskets, etc. and make sure that they're in good condition. You can buy sheets of gasket material that may be less expensive for you that buying pre-cut. Be careful to make sure that it's the right thickness, and that they're properly trimmed, cut, and shaped. And use a good silicone as well...

Also make sure to go through anything that moves... make sure they're greased/lubricated proprely.

New plug(s), wires, fuel lines... I'd guess that you could do it for under $200... but that's just a guesstimate.

Like I said, the better shape it was in when it was put away, the easier it will be to do. Just take your time, make sure that everything is clean and in good shape, sealed, etc., and I'd be willing to bet that you'll have a nice motor that will last you for many years to come.

A motor like that I'd put a few drops of 2 cylinder oil in the cylinder turn it over a few times replace the spark plug,mix some gas & oil 25-1,try to fire it up in water,a tank,lake whatever.then I'd go from there,I bet it fires and runs.

I've got the same thing in a Johnson case. It might sit a couple years between uses. I'd do what sparce says. You also might want to spray down the carb with some cleaner, drop the glass bowl and clean it out and make sure the fuel lines are free of stuff.

It probably has the two-line tank hose, too. Sometimes you'll get buildup in the fuel side. I'd take the connector off and make sure you can get air or fuel through the line. Put some fresh gas and Seafoam in the tank, shake it up good and discard that gas before mixing a new batch.
