Well I made my Lake Michigan journey these past few days, fishing out of Port Washington..Where the fishing was nothing short of unbelievable once again. Just amazes me how many fish are in that lake and how easily one can catch em. Kings, Coho, Steelhead, and Browns... Lots of em and BIG!!! Well comparabily speaking to the fish we catch here on Superior. Two different ball games for sure...

We ended with 72 fish finding the net for the days we were there, with the majority of the fish being Kings. But we also did fairly well on big coho and some very nice steelhead as well. Our biggest King was in the 17 to 18lb range, our biggest steelhead was 34", and our biggest coho was probably 6lbs. But the action was fast and furious, as Lake Michigan usually is. doubles, triples, quads of fish at once.. Makes for some interesting manuevering..

Water temps were awesome, as we could fish fairly shallow... 15FOW was the ticket one day running planers with J-plugs. But for the majority of the time, 30 to 60FOW produced most fish, but the board lines set high took most fish on J-Plugs and small dodger fly combos. At night, wire line dipsys ruled with Fishlander Triple Glow spoons.

Great report Jim. Good for you.

We're heading to Bailey's Harbor in a week, and the kids are pumped. I printed off the pix to show them what to look forward to.

Good luck with the kids... Should be a good time for them with some hot action... Let us know how you did for sure...

Quick, the steelies down there were pretty prevelant. More so the week before from what my friend said. Outta 33 fish they had ontop that trip, over half were steelhead.

Cool, those kings are a blast, but there's something about seeing a steelie jumping behind the boat before you even realize there is a release, sure would be cool if we could consistantly get them that big around here!
