Training Table

Recommended Posts

I have been preparing to pick up my pup in the begining of Aug. This is my first dog (pointing lab), and I'm wondering about the use and effectiveness of a training table. My dad's never used them, hence I've never seen one is use. I'm debating building one and then wondering how to implement it in my training. Thanks guys

I do some of my training on a table or bench. Fetch and hold are taught there... sit and stay is also re-inforced there. It is easier to elevate the dog than continually stoop over. Plus you have good eye contact and the dog is less prone to 'bolt' when elevated. I just use our picnic table.

I believe a lot of pointing dog and versatile dog trainers use them in teaching 'whoa' and staunchness. But I know little about pointing do training... Setterguy or GSPman will chime in about that.

Good Luck!

Ken
