Procraft Opinions?

Will be in the market for a new fish and ski in the next few months and am leaning towards the Skeeter SL 190. Can anyone share an opinion on Procraft boats and how they compare with Skeeters?

Procraft boats don't compare to Skeeters..If you want to replace all the seats in a year or two a procraft is your boat... grin.gif A couple buddies had the procraft bass boats..the word "junk" comes to mind...

I had an early 90's procraft viper series bass boat, I think the model was V186 or something like that. Carpet was poor(just cut and glued down so all the ends started to come up and fray, finish and trim was bad (oxidized quickly), I did have some electrical issues. I sold the boat mainly because of hull design. It had serious backwash issues when I droped the throttle down fast, a wave would come over the back end and totally flood the boat. My model also had a very shallow hull design that would cause some porporsing or front end bouncing at low speeds (even trimmed all the way down). One thing that I could do was get the motor to blow out at high speed turns and do a 180 degree jet ski like manuver. That really scared the tar out of a few non-suspecting passengers. I now own a 96 skeeter ZX180 that has the same hull design as the skeeter your looking at. The skeeter runs very bow-high and will be a trim sensitive boat. You'll need to run the nose low in high waves or you will get fairly pounded. Make certain that you get at a 52 in shaft on your trolling motor or it will come out of the water in waves. You can find a used ranger sport series for nearly the same price range and personally I think that would be a better buy. I would look for a used 19ft with a 200hp before I went back to a smaller sized boat again.
