Has anyone ever used a sprayer for painting or staining? Do they work well? Are they difficult to clean? Are they worth the money? Any recomendations will be appreciated.

I have used one a couple times to spray both my house and garage. I think they are great! The only thing that can be a pain is that you have to tape off or cover anything you dont want to get paint on. The end result is way worth it. Much faster too than using a roller or brush, etc. The sprayer I used was made by wagner, it was a airless with a hose and you put another hose right into the can of paint let it pressurize and off you go. I dont know the model but it was contractors gold series. To clean I just ran a lot of water through it and took the nozzle apart and cleaned that out well. In the future I dont see me using anything else.

I had almost 200 yards of ceder privacy fence to stain. Try doing that with a brush. My wagner sprayer allowed me to get it done in about 3 hours. My arm was sore from holding the sprayer but if I used a brush I would still be staining. I have used it on acustic ceilings as well. The biggest problem is the paint vapor can get on other things.

The Wagners refered to work great for there purpose, they dont last too long a special insert wears out fairly quick but for latex, oils they work fine if you want a sprayer for enamels, laquers etc. a cup gun is best for fine work,a pro set up airless is fairly cheep now days 200 bucks gets a good one.But it all gets down to how much you'll use it and what application. cool.gif
