Is this area known for small bucks? Just curious, because I've been driving around w/ the spotting scope and I haven't seen a decent buck yet. Yestarday I saw 6 bucks and all were spikes!

Thanks!

I've done some hunting on private land between Mora and Oglivie for about the past 4 years. The family I hunt with has hunted the land for 40 years. No, none, nada, zilch, zero bucks on the wall for that family. Deer aplenty, likely too plentiful. Every year multiple deer come off this land. Seeing 6 spikes seems a little excessive, but actually within reason in this area.

Good Luck!

hunted there for the past 13 years or so and have only seen 2 big racks, didn't get either one. Shoot a lot of basket racks, spikes and some does. The racks on the ones we have shot have been weak also. Have shot 2 bucks that had racks totally gone and we thought we were shooting does.

I moved to the area in 2004 and have bowhunted since. I have seen a handful of bucks with none being "mature" bucks. The area is kind of hard to hunt with big fields and small woodlots in certain areas. My first year hunting in 1991 (Halloween Blizzard) my dad's buddy got a 18 pt. in Mille Lacs WMA. Other than that one there wasn't any big bucks taken. I am sure there are places to find big bucks in the area but it seems they are few and far between.
