2 XB bow vs the 2 XB hull

Is there that much of a difference. I am looking at the Alumacraft Nav 165 and 175. The 165 has 2XB bow while the 175 has 2 XB hull. I am having difficulty deciding which one to consider getting. Also the dealer said that If I consider getting the 165 that a 60f Suzuki would push it better than a 60f Yammi. Is this true? He deals with both of these motors. I was really leaning towards a Yammaha. Thanks in advance. confused.gif

The 2XB Bow goes just to mid-ship. 2XB Hull goes the entire length of the hull. I have a Navigator 175. It has a ton of room. I love the boat. I have a 75hp Yamaha on it and I love the motor. It is a really dry smooth ride.

If you are going with the 165 I will put a plug in here for the Yamaha 60 hp. It is 122 lbs lighter (Suzuki 60 hp - 359 lbs. Yahama 60 hp 237 lbs.) They are both fuel injected. I am assuming you are going with a tiller and there is another area where the Yamaha has a huge advantage over every other manufacuturer. They have an awesome tiller handle set up. They have the shift lever out towards the end, a trim switch on the handle and their Variable Trolling Speed switch on the tiller handle is great for adjusting your trolling speed.

Both motors are 60 hp. I would have to believe the motor that weighed less would push the boat better. I am not saying this is necessarily the dealer's motovation but is there a better mark up on Suzukis? Or do they have more of them on hand? Have the Suzukis not moved as well?

If you decide to go with the Navigator 175 I would definitely recomend the 75 hp Yamaha.

Suzuki's are great motors I just think that with the weight and the tiller handle set up on the Yamaha it is the motor to have.

Get a brochure for both motors read over it and/or check both motors out on-line.

Good luck buying the boat. Please report back as to what you ended up buying and how you like it.

We had a 87 Competitor with the "twin plate bow", before they named it "2XB" style, but still the same construction theory. It was a very, very good boat, and we used it tons.

Then we upgraded to the '97 TP175, the first model with the "2XB Hull". I can tell you this - it made a world of difference. The ride is night and day different. Just depends on your budget and how you plan to use it. If you have the money for the additional boat cost and the additional need for more HP on a larger heavier boat, I would strongly suggest it. If however you dont' want to spend the extra cash, you won't be sorry, but it will be noticable difference.

Good luck,
