anual growth rate

this would be a question for a fish bioligist.. but its really going to depend on how healthy the lake is, and the genetics of the fish. May not grow at all! I actually feel a lot of fish peak out in the 4.5 lb range and because of food and the lake, the never get bigger than 5lbs. I do feel genitics plays a prety large roll in it too.. Kinda like a deer and its antlers.

Yup some fish will stop growing but still age like everything. Example is stunted pannies. Some of those 7" sunnies are 13 yrs old. Doesn't that seem crazy? I read that on the DNR site checking out lake info.

I agree with Dietz on the contribiting factors on how fast they grow. I do know that at 85 degree water temp the bass has the fastest metabolism of the season, thus I imagine faster growing rates in that water temp. Gotta eat alot to keep the weight on.

I'm pretty ceratin bass on Tonka grow faster than bass on Twin Lake near BC and Robinsdale. Of course I'm no biologist either, but they gotta, don't they? confused.gif

looks like an average with the right conditions for a five pound bass might be half a pound of growth over a year. there's a story behind this question, short version, i think i have caught the same bass two and a half times. smirk.gif twice last year for sure and the half catch being a very near miss this year. It was 5 pounds even last year.
