Rick,
I lost your email or I would have sent you the info first!

This contest is a great FAMILY event, wink.gif infact, last year a four y.o. girl won the 4 wheeler. It will be held Saturday January 25th at Barnacles on Mille Lacs. Cost is a Ten dollar donation for a raffle ticket this includes the road pass, minnows and a hole. First place this year will be a brand spanking new FL18. Other prizes include a John deer lawn tractor, Arctic Cat snowmobile, 4 wheeler, 3 day package to Randal's resort on LOW, Auger, chainsaw...

This is a great event that allows us to give back to our local community. Last year the BBC did a documentary on it and this year Home and Garden TV may be there.
Try not to miss this one and let me know if you have any questions!!!

This is a good cause run by the local Jaycees. It's held on the North End of Mille Lacs which is known for some pretty awesome perch fishing as well as Walleye and Pike. Please consider attending this event.

Purchase tickets from Travis above or leave your e-mail here for Travis (Chiro) to get back to you.

Heck, the free access is almost worth it all by itself.

It was a fun event last year and will get better every year, I'm sure.

chiro, I have a question? I most likely would not be able to make it up that way to go fishing but is there a way that I could purchase a raffle ticket or two for myself and allow you or someone involved with the event to give the "fishing pass, minnows and hole" to someone who may want to take a kid, or one of their kids friends along to fish that day? I'd just like to contribute and I would also like to see someone be able to fish without worrying about ten bucks. Let me know, thanks!

I should clarify one thing. The inclusion of the road pass is good for the day, not just for the hours the event is held.
Also, I have seen that Ron Schara has events where people donated used fishing equipment for underprivilaged kids. I was thinking of putting out a request for donations of equipment at this years contest that could be sent to Ron for cleanup and distribution. Any thoughts on this, I know I have some stuff that never gets used that I HAD TO HAVE at the time?

Sorry guys and gals,
I WILL get this right one of these times. This year we have decided to separate the raffle from the ice fishing prizes/contest. So for just the raffle ticket alone it is only $5 and you need NOT be present to win! Then for road pass, bait, contest entry the ticket is $10 and as Rick said it is almost worth it alone for the day road pass. Sorry about the confusion, hopefully this is the last clarification I end up making! Thanks for your support!

We had approximately 1200 households. This is derived from addresses on the tickets. So in reality the majority of housholds had atleast one adult and a child and many had the wife along as well as another child. So my geuss is around 2500-3000 but not all fishing some just a watchin' and many more enjoying a beer or soda. If you can't have a good time at Barnacals on the hard water, you're not going to find a good time anywhere.
Thanks for keeping the thread up to date Rick!
I will be at the Ice show on that Saturday wandering around, I will try to let folks know what I am wearing beforehand...maybe some depends or better yet the fish-n-[PoorWordUsage] kind and vikings horns...then I'll be easy to track down! grin.gif

Chiro,
Sounds like a great event for a good cause. If you would accept, I would like to donate several pair of the ice creepers advertised on this site- to be raffled or door prized- as a donation to your organization. Let me know what you think and we can coordinate the details through Rick.

So Chiro...

Now I'm confused.
$10 bucks gets you fishing the event (that I understand), but you can still win prizes with that $10 entry?
Or must you you pay an additional $5 to be eligible to win prizes?

Now to clarify the ticket isssue...$10 gets your fishing pass, road pass, bait and eligibility to win fishing contest prizes like the fl18, snowmobile, vistacam.... You can also buy $5 raffle tickets to win prizes from the raffle pool such as a four wheeler, Deere riding tractor, LOW 3 night fishing package...

It's a go, all but the fish are cooperating. Get there atleast an hour early if you can stand the cold. I don't think I will make it as I don 't close the Isle office until noon and showing up at 1:00 I would just be in the way.....have a blast, alot of people put alot of time in so everyone can enjoy!!!!!!!!!!

We can still buy tickets there right? Do we go to the resort to buy tickets? I guess everyting will probably be pretty obvious when we arrive.

Too bad you can't be there,..I was hoping to run into some fellow FM.com members.
