Walleye Rueben
We're heading to Lac Seul (July 12-17), fishing in the Ear Falls area, mostly targeting Walleye and Pike. How has the fishing been up there?

Norsky
We did pretty good up there. We had to boat quite a ways to find the fish. They were in very specific areas that we had to search and find out, once we found the pattern it was great fishing. I put on about 45 miles per day on the boat though, with gas at 4.50 a gallon up there. I ended up buying the navionics chip and it proved extremely valuable to navigate our way around. I defineately would not have ventured as far as we did without it.
Walleye Rueben
Thanks for the info. It sounds like the 45gal tank on my Tyee may come in handy. Were the Walleye deep? On reefs, etc? Bait preference?I'm buying a pound of leeches and the resort furnishes a few minnows each day. I also am going to try Gulp.
teamtingler
Norsky,I have the Lowrance H20 with the MN LakeMaster chip, will that work with the Navionic's chip as well? Also, where did you end up buying that chip for Lac Seul. I'm heading there next Wednesday and would love to pick one up this weekend. Thanks, Matt
Norsky
I bought my chip at Cabelas. Possibly could rent it out??? We found the fish from 2 feet to 15 with most from the first break of 6-7 feet down to 16-18 feet. Lindy rigs with leeches caught the most, gulp worked on jigs when the fish were really shallow. The most important thing up there is to move around until you find fish that are actively feeding. Once you find them, it's unbelievable. Just watch out for rocky reefs, they are hidden well and can be out in the middle of nowhere. Jigs and minnows also work well up there.
