Bait used

What has everyone been having luck with for bait on the Flatheads as of late?

I'm going out tonight again and I have been using creek chubs and bullies but was thinking maybe suckers also.

Anyone be doing anything on suckers?

we were out with a few guys last night who were using decoy sized suckers. They swore by them. I myself have been using bullheads and cheekchubs. Have not done as good on the creekchubs versus the bullheads.

Firday night when I was out, the flattie's preferred creek cubs over the bullies it seemed. We didnt have any suckers with to try but tonight we will.

Been getting hits and runs with suckers. They have a glass jaw and once hit they are usually down for the count. I've had a couple come around after putting them back in the bait bucket but it takes them a while.

We are sooooo overdue.

I know we were talking last year about getting together and time got away.

This year we got to make it happen. I got a boat and know the river up here if you want to check it out. OR I can bring her down and we can work your territory. shes not a jet or a john. but she does alright if we got a couple FOW to work with.

Lets get the spawn done and make a plan.

We had the same luck friday night...we didn't land any flats, but my buddy had several runs on creek chubs while my bullhead soaked undisturbed.

Is it just us or do creekchubs seem to die real easy? We used the creek water they came from, and even ran an aireator (sp?), but we still had a tough time keeping them from going belly up.

I wouldn't mind checking out the river up your way. Never fished it before. Around the Carver area is as far down stream from Kato I have fished. Not sure how big your rig is but if the river keeps dropping around here it will be tough to get a bigger boat around but I could always take you shore fishin.

My fiance caught a 5lb mudcat on a sinking rapala lure and i caught one just a bit smaller on jig and plastic

As Dtro and I were fishing last night and I saw what I was sure to be a flattie surface towards dark, I stated that maybe one should have a bullhead version of a Rapala like a jointed shad rap that has a battery operated wiggly tail on it. Maybe a glow feature to it also. Sure would cut down on bait usage.
