Ice Sighting!

I got to see ice this morning. Yup - honest to gosh hard water. It was on one of those
prairie pot holes you read about - emphasis on the "pot-hole" - as it was a deep one in my driveway!

It was a mite thin too, but at this stage of the game I'll take it.

Being as it was early season, and this was a one of those shallow southen MN praire potholes, I got down on my hands and knees real careful like, took a deep breath, and exhaled. Opened the nicest jigging hole you could ask for.

Ah, whew, glad you didn't make a fool of yourself and start the auger.

We were bird hunting up on the Echo Trail all weekend and this morning woke up to a frozen pond. Beautiful!

The only ice I saw today was in the bottom of my boat, think it is time to call it quits and see if I can find where the wife moved my ice fishing gear to.

You let da wife touch your ice fishing gear?! You crazy? If I did that, I probably wouldn't have any gear left

Remember the commercial that used to be on tv that stated "First you dehydrate it, then you rehydrate it"?

Each fall when I first set up the portable to clean it, I stare at all the old dried-up dead minnows and the black remains of year-old waxies stuck to the floor of the house and wish it were that easy. Just add water and I'd have all the bait I need for another season on the ice.

The countdown begins.

Yeah, me too. I plan on taking down my portable this weekend as well. Time to fix up the equiptment and pick up some new toys.
