fishuhalik
I moved down here 3 years ago from the Grand Rapids area. When I was living up there my go-to lure was always a spinnerbait. We almost always had great success burning 'em right under the surphase, and I miss the strikes they provide! After fishing several area lakes w/ the trusty spinnerbaits and having little to no success, I was turned on to plastics. Now, plastics are fun in their own right, but it almost turns bass fishing into walleye fishing. The reason I always loved bass so much was because of the strike. Most of the lakes I fish are smaller relatively unpressured lakes in the west metro area. Now, my question is, why doesn't my old standby work? I don't really understand it b/c i've always thought of them as an instinct bite. I could understand on lakes like 'tonka where they see 100 spinnerbaits a week. Anyone have any ideas? SluggoMaster
I have found that spinnerbait "color" is the key to the lakes that are more pressured. Find something a little out of the ordinary other than white, chartruese, and black. You will be surprised. I also have better luck with the low profile blade colors as well. ikeslayer
I WILl garuntee that you can still catch them on the spinner bait. You will probably need to change something however. you will have to play around with size, color skirt length and color, blade size and color. If you want to be a spinner bait wiz fish them often but i would also encourage you to watch KVD's video it is everything i know about spinnerbaits. ike
Muddog
One day while out fishing I watched 6 boats lined up working docks, all the fishermen were throwing white skirt/gold willow leaf blade spinnerbaits. I guess word got out that it was the HOT bait. I didn't see one of them catch a fish. I think there is a good chance the Bass have seen that bait 123456789 10 11 12 times before! Minnesota Fisher
When bass fishing, the spinnerbait is my fav and it seems to work well on the local lakes, as well as the river.
MVBASSER
I believe that the lakes you fish see too much pressure. On lakes where there is heavy fishing pressure i just use a 1-2 foot crankbait or a soft-jerkbait. Those baits used over heavy milfoil just below the surface can catch some big fish.
