Guest
I understand there is available a signal device that alerts a pager typr system when a tip up flag goes up. Am I correct and where is one available?------------------tomsecanky
Duffman
Strike Sensor makes what you are looking for. I don't think I would use a tip-up without one these days. It's great knowing the milisecond your flag goes up, then you can decide how long you want them to run with the bait.
hawgTime
tomI've used Strike Sensors for about 10 years and love um. If you're able to fish with multiple lines, like in ND (4 lines), it really can make an outing more productive and fun. I used to set 3 tipups with sensors and troll with my vex jigging. It's a blast. You don't have to worry about missing any hits. Like MJ said, there great for night fishing when you can't see the flag. The transmitters have a red light so you know which one pops up. It used to get pretty wild when a couple buddies and my dad would go fishing---all having strike sensors. Oh, another thing, there are several different channel/frequencies which you can set to personalize your sensors, so when your flag goes up---it's your pager that goes off. Can't say enough good things about them. I don't have a vested interest in promoting product, I'm just a very satisfied customer.flagTime
chunkytrout
With a little knowledge of electronics and a handfull of parts from radio shack, you can make your own for not alot of money.
Guest
I've fished with S Sensors a lot in the past and for the most part they work great. There were times though the flag went up but the pager never went off. Everything was rigged right and had new batteries. Donno what went wrong. Nice bright light that you can see a long ways away if nothing else.
Rainman
I was told by a bait shop up on mil lacs that those thing were illegal. Thats why I never bought any. Are they legal or not!
chunkytrout
Somebody will quote the actual rule but, as far as I know they are perfectly legal. Last year we had CO's drop and not say a word about them.
Guest
I don't personally own one but a fishing partner does. They are nice to have at night when it is tough to see the flag. Also when your jigging you don't have to pay attention to the flag all the time. A little spendy but they prove their worth in due time. If I have a few extra bucks to spend this year I might have to pick a set up.Good Fishin, Matt.
Duffman
The real reason I like it is that I don't have to set the tip-up to be visible from my portable. Also you don't get that "I wonder how long that flag has been up? 1, 5, or 10 minutes?" They are a little pricey, but I think they make up for it in convienece, and resource protection- gut hooking has been non existent since getting one a couple of years ago.
