what do you guys think of this? everyone says with his height that he will be forced out of the catcher pos. sooner b4 later. redmond is a slightly above avg. defensive catcher, but i like having his bat in the lineup all of a sudden. i say keep heintz up, dh mauer a while or let joe-ma play C on redmonds days off or something like that. i'd like to keep him healthy for as long as possible.

Mauer would make a great DH, but he's too young to have him do that yet, would ruin his self esteem. I think a perfect DH would be a twilight NL player like Griffey, Bonds and a couple years ago- McGwire. DHing would prolong a career 5 years for any of these above named players. Interestingly, I don't know if any of you guys caught that FSN special about Joe- he batted over .700 and only struck out once in High School. AMAZING. PS- how about an OF position? I think LF is a sore spot for the Twins

I was at the game he struck out. State Tourney against Elk River. Paul Feiner struck him out. I went to high school with Paul's brother Kyle and that is all we talked about for a week. Oh yeah, Mauer took him deep opposite field the at bat before.

Mauer is a great defensive catcher. He is only what 24,25 or 26. I know he has been injured often but I think we should keep him there awhile. Joe is what 6'5, I think he can last till his thirties playing catcher. I know Pudge is alot shorter but look at him still squattin especially after all those years in Texas when the heat was 95+. I think we should keep Joe at catcher for awhile.

I'm sure he would do fine at 3rd, but I think he would great in right field. Typically, you put your best arm in right, and worst in left, then your best athelete in center. I just don't think catcher is the long-term solution for Mauer. We need to keep the best hitter in the game healthy year-round, having a player like Mauer hurt or taking a day off to rest from catching is not worth it. He needs to play EVERY game with a swing like that!

If Joe don't stop growing he is going to be a Point Guard.

Nice quote... They say he has grown 2 inches since coming to the majors shocked.gif He is too tall to catch for too long, I agree with the left field take.

Remember one thing- Pudge never played tackle football from being a little boy on up to senior year of high school. Joes body has taken some abuse over his lifetime, if he isn't careful, his career might be over before 30

    • Yeah it was a beatdown
    • Your kid needs to stay with him!👍
    • My kid was eating in Beverly Hills and ran into this guy. Talked to him a bit and wished him luck in the game tonight.
    • 🤔as a recovering machinist!🤣🤣that must make me a recovering welder!
    • As a recovering machinist, I can appreciate that.  If the spec is 0.001 - 0.0015, then clearly the correct measurement is 0.00125, duh…
    • I just figured that it is easy enough to just get a 3 bank so when the boat is not in use I can keep all 3 batteries charged. I have not bough a charger yet, maybe I will give it some more thought. Edit: After thinking this over, with the size, weight, and heat output of the charger (as well as the cost) I think it makes sense to just buy a 2 bank charger, I have a smaller charger i can use on the starting battery when the boat is sitting at home. Forgive me, for i am a retired engineer and I have to obsess over everything...
    • Congrats on the motor!  I think you’ll like it.   I can’t say much on the charger location but I’ve seen them under the lid in back compartments and under center rod lockers.  160 degrees is more than I expected to hear.   Curious why you’re opting for a 3 bank charger with a 24V trolling motor.  Unless you don’t feel you be running you big motor enough to keep that battery up as well?
    • I did buy an Minnkota Ulterra, thanks for the recommendations. I had a bunch of Cabela"s bucks saved up, which helped. Now i need to get an onboard battery charger. Where do you guys mount these things in your boat? The manufacturer I am looking at {Noco genius) says tht their 3-bank charger will run at 160 degrees, seems like a lot of heat in an enclosed compartment? Thanks for any input on this.
    • You're very lucky a troop of Sea Monkey's didn't carry you away.
    • Wasn't terrible at a state park beach. Antelope island maybe.  I wouldn't recommend it as a beach destination tho.  Figured I was there, I'm getting in it.
