navionics compatability with lowrance?

I've been looking for information on the nav. hd chips compatability with lowrance.

Can someone please explain the hotmaps vs. platinum lines...

Aren't the better maps (more HD)the platinum line?

I have looked at the Navionics site and it seems to be indicating that the platinum line of hd maps is not compatible with lowrance products.

???
