short shaft or long shaft

I'm curious what size motor I need on my boat. It's a 14' crestliner with a 14" high transom. Would a short shaft work on this boat? I found a motor I'd like to go look at with 17" from the boat clamp to the top of the fin above the prop. Would this work?

how fast does that thing go in your picture??

On water: Up to 59.5 measured on the GPS.

On Ice: Up to around 70 mph

That thing is SWEET!!! Do you have to have a permit or just a driver license to drive it?? I would love to take that thing out some time

It's registered as a boat, so nothing else is required to use it. I sold it last year but plan on building another one next year. You can check out other pics on my HSOforum which is my user name with com at the end.
