Techniques for early walleyes....night fishing? or day?

any suggestions for fishing walleyes at night or what to use live bait, rap's, or jig and twister tail?

Slip bobber and leech, jig and minnow, and cranks in no particular order. On any given night I would be prepared to try all 3.

Night fishing from shore... wind at your back, still, use a floating rap, retreive slowww. as slow as you can, sometimes breaking the surface of the water.

fishing current, rap or jig with twister tail.

Fishing a bit windier, slip bobber, leeches, plain hook or jig.

There are of course many many variables, and things that work. These are my standard starting presentations.

Looking at opener, you don't have to fish water over 2 feet to be successful at night. Keep the retreive fishable to the end of your pole! Good luck on opener, Brent

I jig a lot but not at night, I'd rather cover ground with crankbaits. Or bobber fish with a leech (or minnow or crawler) if the fish are concentrated.

Good ol' Jig and a Minnow.

Jerk Baits can be good too if you have the right place to throw them.

I tried drop shot fishing this year and got a sauger...and nice slab speckleback.
