Buying eurolarvae?

I know Larry's has got them. I've also bought them at Gimp's a couple times. Just keep them cool. I left some in my coat pocket for a day or so hanging in the closet and they all died.

SpikeRoberts, Vados is great. They keep their bait fresh and its good quality. I buy from Vados almost everytime I go out in the metro area.
Good Fishing, Matt.

Rusty,

Not to start a baitshop debate, but Fish Lake bait in Harris holds up pretty darn good as far as quality and cost go. Worst bait shop as far as bait quality is the one in White Bear Lake on 61 and 96. I swore last year I'd never buy minnows from them again when usually 50 percent of them would be dead the first day. I gave them another chance this year because they're a local business. Same results. I've confronted them with this issue, and they just shrug it off.

Spike,

I am sort of proud to say that 13 years ago I worked at Gimps. I would have never let Gimps run out of Euros back then. Odds are good (if you ice fished back then and lived in the neighborhood), I served up Euros or minnows to you.

Bornofice,
Its a small world. I am a fourth generation Rice Streeter and have bought bait from Gimps for decades, I'll bet you waited on me at some point grin.gif

I do have a question -- when you guys say keep the euros cool, how cool is cool 40, 50, 60 degrees?

I bought 1000 mixed colored maggots (EuroLarvae) about 3 weeks ago. I have kept them in the fridge and have picked out the dead ones and changed the sawdust twice. They are in great shape still. I would put on one of the bottom shelves if you have a freezer on top. They might get too cold close to the freezer. I ordered Thursday and received them Friday morning. The bait was in great shape when I got it and it still is. They were very friendly on the phone also! Good Luck!

Spike,
I believe that Joe's has them in stock right now. I would call ahead that was a few days ago.
I couldn't find your E-mail adress, so you need to E-mail me. I have a very nice tip for you.

Would love to try the colored eurolarvae. Do you guys see a better bite with the colors? I read MikeR's post and would love to have some shipped. Does anybody have a number for Vados. Any help would much be appreciated. Good luck fishing all.

Keep your larve as close to 32 degrees as possible. If you can do this they will live for up to 3 months. I did it this winter. Leave the 1000 pack in the fridge and only take with as many as you can use. Don't mix fresh with old. Pick out any dead or palpated maggots.

Rusty,

Thanks for the # and HSOforum of Vados. Great web page makes ordering easy. Hopefully those colored eurolarvae put some panfish on the ice. Thanks again.

on a side note...
a buddy did the , forgotten in pocket trick
the temp must have been just right because they all went into cacoons. i thought great!
i can handle a few flies and have tons of free maggots.

they hatched all right!!! ever seen one of those buggers? they are the size of a small B52. i had them in a good size container with tin foil and very small air holes. any body wanna guess what my 7 yr old daughter did to my flies and almost my marriage? yep...with all of the buzzing she had to see what dad was growing...so off went the foil and off went all of the flies.

moral of the story, sometimes it doesn't pay to be a rocket scientist ;-)

Can you buy euro Larve during the summer? If so, does anyone fish with it?

I would also have to agree with Vados, it's a great bait shop. I live in Maple Grove and drive a hour round trip just to get there bait.

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
