Transducer placement?

heiman507

Question

Just curious where everybody places their transducers on the transom. Particularly if u have more than one transducer.

The reason i ask, i have an Lowrance LCX-18c on the console and the transducer is mounted on the the starboard(right) of the transom. I also have a Hummingbird 300TX on the bow of the boat and the transducer is mounted on the portside(left). These transducers are spaced about 3' apart. Yet at times, the hummingbird causes interference on the lowrance when both are running. The lowrance would show depths of 400 - 600' or more when floating in 6 fow.

Not positive, but i believe both are running just standard single beam 200Khz transducers.

Any suggestions or tips for better placement for the transducers that would eliminate the interference. Or if there are configuations on the units to clear the interference.

It wouldn't be that bad if the hummingbird experienced the interference, but when the lowrance is what i primarily use, it be nice to have a clean pic while both are running.

I have my console unit transducer mounted on the transom. I had similar issues with bad depth readings and it was because it got moved when going through bull rushes. I am planning on mounting it to the inside of the bilge area with epoxy. The one on my bow is attached to the trolling motor since I only use it with the trolling motor. Plus with a 20' boat I could be fishing a drop off on the bow but the transom could be on the edge. I need to see what is below me depending upon which end of the boat I am fishing.
