2dog
What I use is I bought a hard plastic arrow case. It is what you use to carry archery arrows in. It has the foam padding in it and 2 latches to keep it closed up. Works pretty well for me I bought it for $20 at Cabela's
Matt D
Depends on whether you're talking ice rods or full length rods. As for ice rods, I just saw one at the Cabela's store in town last week that runs $20. It looks a lot like the arrow case that 2dog mentioned, but it's wider (my arrow case would hold 2 rods at most). I'm guessing you could easily fit 4 rod/reel combos in it and maybe squeeze in 6 depending on reel size. I don't think they have them in the catalog, but some phone calls to a store could probably hook you up with one.
Jim W
If your talking ice rods you would not go wrong purchasing a Croxton Pond bag. If you go this route, I recommend the 3 sided bag. You can get ALL of your ice fishing gear in it. I had one, had it lifted from me and with in a week had to get a new one!!!!Check it out. You can order them off of this site. Go to the Ice Gear page!!!See ya!Jim W
The Chemist
When you talk about back of the truck, do you mean the bed? Or behind the seat? Have a topper? I got rod holders and tied them to the roof of the topper. Worked quite well. If you are looking for protection and don't want to worry about about damage, try this- measure the max diameter of the reel. Go to a hardware store and buy some PVC in the appropriate length and then get PVC end caps. Get foam and put it in the ends.
