HOGEYE
My engine stand fell over and broke off the cast aluminum shift arm. Does anyone know of a good way to fix this? Would JB weld or something similar glue it back on?
iffy
A good fix would be to replace the part with either a new or used piece. Glueing it could prove to be a foolish choice. What if the glue joint broke when someone was motoring across the lake at full throttle? I don't know from your post how powerful your motor is, but anything very large could overturn the boat if that were to happen.
Bobby Bass
I think you are pretty much stuck with having to replace the part. Never have found anything that will mend it.
dkf
Your cast alum arm can be repaired by an experianced welder with a TIG welder. I have welded cast aluminum parts many times and the biggest thing is to get them absolutly clean and down to bare metal surrounding and at the break. Or you could just spend the money on a new part. Glue or JB Weld or similar will not work. OEM paint to match your outboard should be available if you decide to have it repaired.
sparcebag
If your gonna glue it keep a vicegrip handy! if your going to weld it you have to remove it.replace it.A weld will work if the welder knows his trade, back yard welders, well avoid them, they will, ruin it so a certified welder cant fix it!
