Went out fishing this morning on otter creek with eatsleepfish and then i hit a couple places on Midway and Rocky run this evening. Did not catch a single fish the whole day confused.gif. Wondering what i did wrong? I saw a thing on tv about how some of the trout died from the low water levels and areas freezing all the way to the bottom in the winter and from the temps last summer, so im wondering if I did something wrong or if the fish just arent there? confused.gif One of my buddys called me tonight to brag that he caught a 14 inch brookie on the midway but that is the only one there group caught all day.

Stopped at the midway on my way home today for about a half hour just to cast the spinner a little bit and I had a brown keep hitting my spinner but he never got it enough to get hooked, i think he hit it 3 times in a row. Also had a little brookie follow it in once but couldnt get anything to bite. I saw the brown and it looked like it was maybe a 13 or 14 incher.

I am still feeling out the area seeing that I have only been fishing up here a total of 2 times for trout. I went out on midway yesterday on St. Louis rd and didn't get anything and went up to the cloquet river tonight and didn't get anything. I am struggling, next stop is Blackhoof hopefully that will bring some luck. I am having trouble finding my favorite bait in the area which are leaf worms. All I am finding are night crawlers and the salesman say thats what people are using but I like to take my fly rod and put a size 12 hook on with a very small split shot and hook a leaf worm once or twice through the head and let it ride down the rapids. Hopefully I can find some here soon

anybody have any suggestions it looked like they are fishing the holes in the cloquet river but I don't like fishing that way. I want to hit the fast water with my fly rod and leaf worm but having trouble finding the right river

I caught my first trout of the season today, a nice 8 inch brookie out of the midway. I would leave the crawlers home and use a spinner. I got all my hits this year on a mepps size o. I dont think fishing on the Midway is that good up near Midway and st louis river rd because a lot more people fish there than in the lower part. Ive been fishing it down in esko, you will find very few fisherman except for a few of us that stop and fish after school everyday. All the trout caught on the midway that ive heard of this year have been on spinners. Ive been getting hits in a couple different shallow runs, about 2 feet of water with a little bit of current kind of between a couple pools. I would leave the fly rod home because one of friends was using one on tuesday and there was a brown that kept coming after my spinner but it wouldnt touch his streamers wink.gif. Where are they fishing on the cloquet? The only place that i know to get on it is the hwy 53 rest area there.

yeah thats where I was then I took a little walk up about a mile and a half to two. Alot of possible rapids fishing just nothing in there, plus it was miserable with the wind that night. But as I was walking I could tell where people stopped and fished and there was a few times where I would see a stick stuck in the groung shaped like a Y for pole holders and the only place close was the deeper holes.

Well i did pull another small brookie out of the midway on saturday but fishing the river now is very difficult due to the high water after the rainstorm. The river is flooded really bad and i couldnt even cast into some pools because they were flowing so fast and couldnt get close enough to the stream. May take tommorow off.

Got a small brookie out of the midway yesterday for the first time since the rainstorm, also missed several bites. i was fishing a size 8 hook with a half a crawler and no weight just drifting it in the current.

    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
