Lund flat board seats

BillP

Question

I need to replace the flat board seats on an old Lund boat. This boat sits uncovered on a lift in the summer and on it's trailer in a shed in the winter. I am told that the new treated plywood is a no no for aluminum boats. Is there some special kind of plywood and or finish that will provide durability?

Bill,

Treated lumber has changed again!

ACQ treated is out as the industry standard, the new product is treated with micronized copper.

This is copied from Universal Forrest Products web site:

Compatible with Aluminum

ProWood Micro can be placed in direct contact with aluminum building products

Micronized copper treatment was marketed in January of 2007 so there is still alot of ACQ in lumber yards and home centers. Make sure the piece of plywood is labled PTMC or has Micro somewhere on the little tag with the UPC# and it will be safe to use with aluminum.
