I've got about 5-6 colors because I thought it would be great but have found that I mostly use chartreuse with an occasional red. Mostly I use it when I'm in an area where I know I should be getting bit and for some reason it is not happening. Mostly use it on jig trailers, senkos, and brush hogs.

Always hard to say exactly why two guys fishing very similar baits in very similar ways don't always get bit evenly - sometimes one guy does all the fishing and the other does all the catching -but I have had it happen where the only real difference is that I have dipped the trailer tips in chartreuse dye and the bite swung heavily in my favor.

It could also work if a good bite shuts down and the little difference turns it on again I would guess. Never tried that but sounds possible.
